TATA INSTITUTE OF SOCIAL SCIENCE (TISS)
CARE-is running a six month part time social work course in consultation with Tata Institute of Social Science (TISS)
The Tata Institute of Social Sciences was born out of the vision of a Christian missionary, Dr. Clifford Manshardt and the philanthropic mission of a business house, the Tatas. Both were involved in the development of the country in their own way with a vision and mission of their own. On behalf of the Tatas it was the Dorab Tata Trust that was directly responsible for establishing the Institute. The Institute was started in 1936 as the Dorabji Tata Graduate School of Social Work for professional training in social work, in the premises of the Nagpada Neighbourhood House in the city of Mumbai (then Bombay).
