Thanks for visiting the website of CARE As you are aware to develop a team of Committed and trained volunteers to fight with above issues we have started a six-month training course with support of Tata Institute of Social Science (TISS). TISS is a pioneer institute in INDIA in the field of training in Social Work and Management. TISS is also a deemed University. This course brings an insight to the issues and problems faced by the world and talks about different intervention strategies and best practices in the field of social work. The course emphasizes on practical fieldwork with combination of theory classes. This course is planned to adjust to the present days’ requirements and it suits to the working people also.

We have started this course in Kalwa (Thane) and Vasai from August 2002 and around 75 people have been participating in the programme. These two locations are the suburbs of Thane district, one of the highly populated tribal districts in the country. In Year 2003 we started three batches at Thane, Dadar and Vasai respectively around 90 people from different walks of life took part in this course. We have successfully completed five batches of this course in two years with training to 160-170 students out of which 65% are women.

We want to start this course in different places in English / Hindi and Marathi Medium. In the year 2004 we propose to start five batches (as the demand from the field is increasing) at Dadar (Medium of Instruction - English), Kalyan, Thane, Vashi and Nasik (Medium of Instruction - Marathi/ Hindi) from August 2004.

We will be charging nominal fees from the participants to make them the cause-holder. We would be happy to sponsor the deserving and needy students if some body takes care of the entire cost of the course. Though we are running these courses successfully,
